SUCCESS IS LINKED TO KNOWLEDGE

Success starts with a thought or an idea. When nourished with hope and confidence and encouraged by ambition and aspiration, that single idea takes shape as a dream, vision, and goal in stages. You must allow your ideas to grow, no matter how far-fetched or nonconformist they may seem in the beginning. You must give wings to your ideas and let them fly high. You must allow your thoughts to take root, no matter how others choose to regard them.

Many great ones, whom the world today worships with awe and wonder as gifted visionaries, super geniuses or miracle-makers, were viewed as Utopians or mental defunct by several of their contemporaries. While some may describe your ideas as imagination and vision, others may dub them as sheer daydreams and idle fantasies. But the fact remains that idea, however strange, unorthodox or heretic they might have seemed at the start, have ultimately wrought miracles, brought revolutions and built civilization.

Ideas verily rule the world, and also the minds of men. They contribute to continuing changes, shape as well as determine the destiny of human beings and contribute to the growth of civilizations. Every great and grand accomplishment, whether relating to religion, science, medicine, industry or technology, which are written in letters of gold in the history of human advancement, was in the first instance, no more than a mere idea in the mind of a human being, be he a man or woman. Revered religious texts, great classics, magnificent monuments, astonishing scientific discoveries, earth-shaking inventions, fantastic technological feats like splitting the atom, heart transplant, humans walking on the Moon, unraveling the secrets of Mars- have all had only ‘ideas’ at their starting points.

Ideas sprout, blossom and lead to action with knowledge. Therefore, your success is irretrievably linked to knowledge. Knowledge is strength and knowledge is power. When you apply your knowledge and understand your problem, you will find the solution starting at you. When you know the answers, your success in an examination, test or interview is automatically assured. When you know the secrets of your business, your profit and growth are guaranteed.

WORK IS THE BEGINING OF SUCCESS

There is no short cut to success. Neither can success come solely through luck or good fortune. Pluck more than luck is essential for success, since fortune favours the brave and not the fickle-minded. In a nutshell, there is only one way to achieve success and that is hard work performed as per a well-conceived and imaginative plan.

Work is the beginning, the middle and the end of success. He, who does not work, will not succeed. He who works will accomplish success in direct proportion to the work he puts in. ‘A little more’ or ‘and then some’ are the three-little-word mottos which sum up what has lifted most men above the crowd. They did all that was expected of them ‘and then some ’. They did as much as anybody else in the same line and in the same group and then ‘and then more’. Success crowns those who put in the extra efforts as compared to their competitors in the field. What turns the ordinary into extraordinary is the extra we put into it.

The climb to the top is a walk up, never a walk-over. There are no lifts or escalators in the world of success. There are only stairs leading from one level to the next. You will get stuck and others will overtake you. The man who is content to get by is sure to be passed by since he has learnt only how to get by, but not how to get on. There can be no success at all without work and more work. There is no substitute for work, since work alone can solve problems and produce results.

Start now. Never mind yesterday, never mind tomorrow, do today’s work today. Awake, Arise and Act. Go to work and keep working and you will win.

You can succeed in anything if only you put your heart and soul into it. You must set yourself doggedly to it and keep working for it till the end. You must have a burning single-minded desire for that object. You must reveal the firm determination and steely nerve to win at any cost. You must also have the patience and perseverance to persist against all odds and obstacles. Above all, you should display the ability, willpower and stamina to put in sustained hard work.

FIVE HUNDRED RUPEES

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up afive hundred rupee bill. in the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this five hundred-rupee bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this five hundred-rupee bill to one of you. But first, let me do this."

He proceeded to crumple the five hundred-rupee note up. He than asked,"Who still wants it?" still the hands were up in the air."Well" he replied,"What if I do this?" He dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.

"My friends, you have learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was sill worth five hundred rupees." Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.

MORAL:-

WE FEEL WE ARE WORTHLESS; BUT NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, DIRTY OR CLEAN, CRUMPLED OR FINELY CREASED, YOU ARE STILL PRICELESS!

STARFISH

An old man was walking along the beach, when he came upon a part of the sand where thousands of starfish had been washed ashore.

A little further down the beach he saw a young woman, who was picking up the starfish one at a time and tossing them back into the ocean. "Oh you silly girl", the old man exclaimed. "You can't possibly save all of these starfish. There's too many".

The woman smiled and said, "I know. But I can save this one", and she tossed another into the ocean, and said "This one."..........and this one............

MORAL:

BE UNTO OTHER AS YOU WOULD LIKE OTHERS TO BE UNTO YOU!

IF YOU BELIEVE ........ YOU CAN ACHIEVE

IF YOU BELIEVE ........

YOU CAN ACHIEVE ..........

When you say'I believe' mind you it is a very strong and positive statement. You can say it with conviction only if you have the courage and confidence to do so. Where does this confidence and courage come from?

A positive attitude is one of them. As a successful person belief in what you do is of utmost importance. Because sustained growth in all your endeavours and to achieve your dreams and goals depends upon your belief in what you are doing.

Belief comes out of faith in oneself. It is something deep within you that only you can nurture. The foundation for this is acquisition of knowledge and skills in whatever you do. Having done this, self-motivation is one sure way to succeed in realiszing your goals. Deep within, you must develop the courage to say to yourself:

  • I desrve to be

  • I want to be

  • I can be

  • I will be

When ambitions soar, aspirations reach out to touch even greater heights. Hence, if you want to change your life for the better, you need to change the way you think and change what you do. It's up to you and you alone. It's your decision and this is the first step.

  • Self-help starts with you

  • Your personal change starts with your realisation that it is in your own hands.

  • It's your decision to do something about it.

  • your own self-belief is the key to your success.

  • Achievement, contentment and happiness are the end results

Here is a simple suggestion that many teachers on the subject of motivation have passed on to their pupils with great success. You could perhaps try it to your own and be pleasently surprised with its outcome.

After you get up in the morning and brush your teeth, stand in front of a mirror and look at your image with steady eyes and say the following:

  • I am a good person

  • I have integrity

  • I do what is ethically right and good

  • Today I am better than what I was yesterday

  • Tomorrow I will be better than what I am today

Remember whatever life puts before you will be a useful experiance that will make you stronger, wiser, more tolerant and understanding. This will make you strong enough to take on the challenges you face everyday and help you focus on the joy of living and also in helping others whenever and wherever they need it. You can certainly do this and achieve your life's ambitions.

The statement 'I believe' is a powerful one because it embodies the sense of self determination, which nobody can away from you. There is wisdom in accepting what you are as it is difficult to accept what you are not.

It is on this foundation that people like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela to name a few ,whose self confidence shook the world of oppression and brought freedom to the masses.

These are examples you can follow and achieve success in whatever you do. You have, on many occasions, done this and have achieved success in your various activities. You can do it again!

ABRAHAM LINCOLN’S LETTER TO HEADMASTER

A letter written by Abraham Lincoln to the Headmaster of a school in which his son was studying. It contains an advice, which is still relevant today for teachers, parents and students………….

He will have to learn, I know, that all men are not just, all men are not true.
But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero; that for every politician there is a dedicated leader…

Teach him for every enemy there is a friend,
It will take time, I know; but teach him if you can that a dollar earned is of far more value than five found……

Teach him to learn to lose………
And also to enjoy winning.

Steer him away from envy, if you can, teach him the secret of quiet laughter.

Let him learn early that the bullies are the easiest to lick……

Teach him, if you can the wonder of books…..
But also give him quiet time to ponder the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun,
And the flowers on a green hillside.

In the school teach him it is far honorable to fail than to cheat……

Tear him to have faith in his own ideas,
Even if everyone tells him they are wrong…..

Teach him to be gentle with gentle people, and tough with tough.

Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone is getting on the band wagon….

Teach him to listen to all men but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth, and take only the good that comes through.

Teach him if you can, how to laugh when he is sad…..
Teach him there is no shame in tears.

Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness…..

Teach him to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidders but never to put a praise-tag on his heart and soul.

Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob and to stand and fight if he thinks he’s right.
Treat him gently, but do not cuddle him, because only the test of fire makes fine steel.

Let him have the courage to be impatient ……
Let him have the patience to be brave

Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself, because then he will have sublime faith in mankind.

This is a big order but see what you can do…..

He is such a fine fellow, my son!!
